APPEARANCE MODEL
For the construction of the appearance model, I used high-density PU foam, shaped using a bandsaw and other fabrication techniques, then sanded to achieve a smooth surface. Bondo filler was used to create a clean and refined look.
A thin strip of Polypropylene thermoformed around a bowl to create a headband, and cut to size to achieve the desired curve. Hinges were added to the ear covers and fastened with pins, and thin layers of soft foam were glued to the headband to add volume and provide cushioning for user comfort.
A leather covering was sewn on the outside match the color-blocking aesthetic and tactile element of the camera. The visible components were spray painted to match the reference product, along with vinyl-cut logo along with a button details made from laser-cut acrylic.
The components were fabricated separately and assembled to achieve the correct fit and form. This allowed for minor adjustments during the process to ensure that the elements came together nicely.
